Clackamas County Personnel Excellent Benefits We are seeking candidates who have outstanding communication skills especially with distraught customers, possess the ability to determine priorities and make critical decisions promptly, and who are efficient and accurate with multi-tasking. Emergency dispatch work is frequently intense and demanding, requiring working weekends, holidays and rotating evening, night, and day work schedules. The Center provides 24-hour primary answering and dispatch for 15 agencies, including 6 law enforcement agencies and 9 fire and medical service providers. Our dispatchers use an Enhanced 9-1-1 system with a progressive Computer Aided Dispatch system. The Center serves a population of approximately 300,000 and each month handles an average of 35,000 E9-1-1 & 10-digit public safety phone calls, 20,000 police incidents and 2,000 Fire/Emergency Medical Service (EMS) incidents. Dispatchers work 4 days on and 4 days off, on a 10-hour shift (dispatchers currently work an 11th hour, paid at overtime to support staffing levels). All other positions are based on a 2080-hour work year (standard 40-hour workweek). |
